What Does this Light Mean on My Subaru Dashboard?
Sometimes when we're on the road or we're getting heading out to run some errands, our vehicles will surprise us with its lights and indicators. Unless you've read the owner's manual cover to cover, there's a chance you won't know what these lights mean! Here at Courtesy Subaru we are here to help! Check out a few of the common warning lights that might show up on your Subaru's dash.
- The Check Engine Light means you need to have your Subaru checked or repaired by your local Subaru dealers as soon as you can!
- Low Tire Pressure Warning this light will turn on for approximately two seconds when you turn on the ignition to check that your tire pressure system is working well, then it will turn off. If there is a problem, however, the light will remain on and your tires should be checked.
- The Coolant Temperature Indicator will turn off after you turn on your ignition if your coolant and engine temperature are at normal levels. It will stay on and turn red or blue or blink if there is a problem, and should be addressed immediately.
- If your Vehicle Dynamics Control System light is on, then you might have accidentally turned the system off. You can turn it back on with a simple push of a button, and regain control through the ABS system. If this light turns on at the same time as your Check Engine light, then your vehicle should be checked.
- Your Oil Pressure Warning light will turn on if your engine oil is low and the lubricating system is not functioning properly. Add oil immediately if this light turns on, or visit us if oil levels are normal.
- The Charge Warning Light might mean that the charging system is not working properly. Either stop your car and check the alternator belt, or contact us immediately.
- If ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes) Warning light stays on while driving or does not turn on at all we recommend that you visit our dealership as soon as you can. Sometimes this light will turn on if you have insufficient battery voltage (if it has been jump started).
