Merlin Fauth, President of Courtesy Subaru, Inc, got his start in the auto industry in 1956 as the office manager of Frontier Ford. In 1968 he made the decision to buy into Courtesy Lincoln, Mercury. The dealership was located on East Boulevard, where the Fire Department Headquarters now stand. The Flood in 1972 that destroyed much of Rapid City, also took the building that housed Courtesy Lincoln Mercury prompting the move to our current location on Cambell Street, which opened in 1973.
On May 27th, 1975, Merlin signed on to become a Subaru dealer. Then in 2001, the Lincoln, Mercury franchise was sold, leaving Courtesy Subaru as the sole Subaru dealer in Western South Dakota.
